The Physical Bible

The Physical Bible Project is over 20 years in the making, coming from the mind and heart of Josiah Hoffman. About the Physical Bible

This project is 20+ years in the making. In an increasingly visual world, Josiah Hoffman felt a calling see the Bible as we know it, a bit differently. Having grown up studying the bible, and even learning to read from it at the age of 6 or 7, a passion for knowing it more intimately was born at a young age. In his college years he continued his study and received a Minor in Religion from Grove City College. At that time, he began to preach at local churches while traveling with a college singing group. Across a variety of denominations, he found that there was a hunger among Christians of all ages to know more about this incredible book. But there was also confusion and so many questions . He doesn’t see the Bible as merely a Holy Book on the shelf, but rather a compilation of books (“Biblia” – ancient Greek) containing many different types of writings, which all need to be treated differently. Long after college, marriage, kids, and service to his local Church, the Holy Spirit continued to impress on his heart a vision for this project. The Physical Bible’s purpose is to visually represent the 66 books/writings of the Bible in a chronological manner, building from the ground up. Starting with the Pentateuch and working up through histories, poetry, wisdom literature, major & minor prophets, the Gospels, early church letters, and Jewish apocalyptic prophecy. It is not designed to be comprehensive, but rather to provide context for those seeking knowledge and wisdom from the Bible we all find so valuable. We hope you find a fresh perspective and are re-invigorated to engage with the Bible in a whole new way. This project would not be possible without the collaboration and generosity of many within Josiah’s ecclesia community, including Nate Musselman, Alexa Headley, and others.”
